Joe had HAD it with all the stuff and kept saying " let's just take it to Goodwill, we're not going to make any money on all of this!" I was adamant- I would do all the work, but I was going to have this garage sale and see how much we could make!
This is what the house looked like for about a week pre- garage sale...everything was sorted in to categories and priced in boxes around the downstairs.
Well, Friday morning we started carrying things out and setting up around 5:30am and by 6:00 there was a swarm of people. Several people actually asked me if they could come in the house and see what we hadn't brought outside yet, to which i said a firm "no."
Both days we were supposed to go from 7-noon, but both days we actually went til about three because people just kept coming! Several times I would look up and there was a line to pay for things...i counted 25 people at one point!
The 5'x10' dog crate didn't sell by the end of it and we were bummed because it takes up a lot of space and we really wanted to sell it- it was only a year old, but we didn't have a place for it here. The next day a lady called and asked if we still had i the crate...she came and picked it up later that day and gave me $175!
SO, drumroll please...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................the grand total was right around $1,300! Woohoo!!! I say let's have another garage sale!:)
With the money, we are taking a trip to see family soon and we will also be organizing the garage and office. No more clutter, we're only keeping what we absolutely NEED- I don't ever want to make the move again with that much stuff!
